Bike Walk Macon, NewTown Macon, and Better Block are co-hosting a special initiative in early November 2019 to promote and improve bikeability along Walnut Street extending from Rogers Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Join us for a community kickoff party on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Bike Walk Macon headquarters at 338 Poplar Street to hear a brief overview of the goals of the project, contribute your ideas to shape the direction, and even participate in painting a bike lane...while enjoying FREE tacos!

  • 5:00 pm - Conversation with Better Block and free tacos

  • 5:30 pm - Bike Lane painting. Please stick around to help us build Macon’s first green bike lane. Remember to wear your painting clothes and shoes.

This event is a continuation of the placemaking activities from 2016 in which 8 80 Cities, Better Block, NewTown Macon, and Bike Walk Macon joined forces to roll out and experiment with various types of bike lanes across the city, encouraging community members to try out new types of transportation.

Macon Connects: Walnut Street is funded by the Knight Cities Challenge grant and the Downtown Challenge grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

Your opinion matters and will directly shape the direction of the project!
