What We Do

BIKE WALK MACON IS LEADING THE MOVEMENT TO MAKE BICYCLING AND WALKING A SAFE AND CONVENIENT OPTION FOR TRANSPORTATION AND RECREATION FOR ALL MACONITES.

Our STORY

Bike Walk Macon was initially supported by the 8 80 Cities Emerging City Champions fellowship program, which is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, in July 2015. We are Macon-Bibb County's first grassroots bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization working to enhance mobility to create a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable city. Through community leadership and inclusive engagement, Bike Walk Macon has become the city’s voice for all things biking and walking. We seek to make active transportation an option for all Maconites, no matter where they live or where they're trying to go. We work to make our transportation network support active living and additional commuting options.

OUR WORK

COMMUNITY: Organize and promote fun, meaningful events and programs that can positively impact bicycling and walking in Macon.

ADVOCATE: Advocate for funding, policies, and infrastructure transformation that improves conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians.

EDUCATE: Provide free resources and education to Maconites so that they can safely and confidently access Macon's streets and greenways.
