"Hey Bike Party, can we go thrift shopping?"

Get your bicycle and your best costume ready and join Bike Walk Macon on Thursday, September 13th for Macon Bike Party's Re-Cycle Ride

Macon Bike Party is a free, slow-paced community bicycle ride for people of all ages and skills levels. Come enjoy our great city and its neighborhoods from a unique perspective.

Show up at 6 pm at Poplar Street Park (Next to Just Tap'd on Poplar St, between 1st and 2nd Street) dressed in your wildest, best/worst thrift shop finds. Remember to also bring bike lights and a helmet. Wheels hit the street at 7 pm. The route will feature 2 pit stops and end back at Poplar Street Park by 9 pm. A map of the complete route will be available on this page 24 hours before the ride. Riders are welcome to join or depart the group at any point.

For our first ride, we're partnering with WEAR, a thrift store in Downtown Macon whose profits benefit Daybreak, and Re-Cycle Macon, a program that gets bicycles to under-resourced individuals in need of dependable transportation. Here's how you can support them:

  • Purchase your second hand best from WEAR and bring your receipt to Macon Bike Party to receive a free "Macon Hearts Bikes" bicycle bell.

  • Re-Cycle Macon will be on site if you'd like to bring a bicycle to donate to their program.

Help us bring the party by adding fun lights to your bicycle and contributing a tune or two (but don't get crazy) to the collaborative Spotify playlist

THE Route

The route will feature 4 party pit stops at some of Macon's best parks and end back at Poplar Street by 9 pm. Riders are welcome to join or depart the group at any point. View the entire route on MapMyRide and Google Maps here.

If you follow the rules, Macon Bike Party will be a safe and positive place for riders, drivers, pedestrians, and the community.

  1. Stay in the right lane. NEVER ride on the sidewalk. NEVER ride against oncoming traffic.

  2. Ride straight, ride predictably.

  3. Stop at red lights and crosswalks.

  4. Leave nothing and no one behind.

  5. Ride SMART! It’s illegal and dangerous to ride a bicycle inebriated.

  6. Make friends and have fun.

Remember, you are responsible for your own behavior. All participants ride at their own risk.
