Thank you for joining us for the 2025 Mobility maker member party!
What a night.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Rose Room to help us celebrate 10 years of Bike Walk Macon. We were honored to be surrounded by the people who’ve shaped this movement - from early volunteers and board members to the advocates, artists, and neighborhood leaders making things happen today.
We looked back on a decade of impact. What started with a $5,000 grant has grown into a powerful force for safer, more connected streets. We’ve helped pass three major policies that guide how streets are designed and made safer. We’ve supported more than 12 miles of bike lanes, 13 miles of trail, and helped bring in millions of dollars for people-first infrastructure. We’ve completed over 20 quick-build projects with neighborhoods - from painted crosswalks to protected bike lanes. We’ve hosted 17 Open Streets and Play Streets events that transformed roads into vibrant public spaces. And we’ve reached thousands of residents through rides, walks, safety classes, and programs that help people move and connect across Macon-Bibb.
Thank you for being part of this movement. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or just joined us this year, we’re grateful for your support, your energy, and your belief in what’s possible. Here’s to the next 10 years of building safer, more connected streets for everyone.
We also recognized some incredible people who’ve championed this work over the years!
Neighborhood Champion Award: Tonja Khabir - for leading transformational work in Pleasant Hill, from working with us on traffic calming projects and Open Streets and rides. Tonja has ensured community voice is at the center of every project while also helping shape long-term plans and secure millions in infrastructure investment for her neighborhood.
Community Partner Award: Asha Ellen and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful - for their tireless work to make our streets cleaner, greener, and more welcoming. From supporting Play Streets to organizing cleanups and school programs, Asha and KMBB have been a key partner in creating a safer, more walkable Macon.
Community Partner Award: Re-Cycle Macon - for their powerful, grassroots efforts to provide reliable bikes to those who need them most. As a volunteer-led program of Centenary Community Ministries, they’ve fixed up and distributed dozens of bikes - offering mobility, freedom, and dignity to people with limited transportation options.
Volunteer Award: Arielle Schlesinger - for years of behind-the-scenes dedication to recruiting, coordinating, and supporting the volunteers who make our events possible. From filling every gap to organizing spreadsheets, Arielle has made sure our intersections and attendees are safe and our volunteers feel like part of something special.
Civic Leadership Award: Commissioner Paul Bronson - for showing up, stepping in, and helping drive real mobility improvements in Macon-Bibb. Whether volunteering at Play Streets or championing better infrastructure in his district, Commissioner Bronson has been a visible and active supporter of safer, more equitable streets.
Impact Award: Randy Heart - for using public art to bring joy, healing, and connection to streets across the city. From painted crosswalks to graffiti murals, Randy has poured heart and detail into every project - helping us transform spaces while connecting with youth and building community.
Impact Award: Erin Hawkins (Mama Hawk Draws) - for shaping Macon’s streetscape through collaborative murals and for uplifting other local creatives. Erin has brought beauty and structure to projects citywide - from Cherry Street to Rogers Avenue while also amplifying the work of fellow artists through 478 Creatives.
Appreciation Award: Gregory Brown - for being a steady presence since day one, and for his ongoing support, leadership, and care. As a founding board member and former chair, Greg has helped guide our growth while showing up in all the ways that matter - volunteering, checking in, and lending his time wherever it’s needed.
Mobility Maker Award: Alex Morrison - for a career spent turning bold ideas into real, lasting change in how we move through and use public space. From the College Hill Corridor to Macon Action Plan and Open Streets, Alex’s visionary planning and consistent leadership have helped shape a more people-friendly Macon.
We’re so honored to walk, bike, and build alongside each of you.
